AYA’s STAMPED centers African music through rooftop and poolside parties in Miami. Core AYA & Friends editions focus on Afrobeats, Amapiano and music from the continent; collaborations such as Jerk x Jollof add Caribbean and wider sounds. Assembly: Roots and Dub Reggae

Reggae

Roots reggae, dub selections and Jamaican sound system culture come together for a monthly gathering in Historic Overtown. Assembly takes place every first Friday at the Dunns-Josephine Hotel, bringing DJs, food and community-focused programming to the neighborhood. The recurring event centers on deep roots selections, dub rhythms and vinyl sessions inspired by classic Caribbean sound system traditions. Guests can expect a Dub Sound System Yard, Caribbean food market, cabana lounge areas and space for dancing, conversation and connection. Happy hour drinks are available from 4 to 6 p.m. Capacity is limited, and RSVP is recommended.

Gallery Opening: Lisa Leone's "212"

Hip-Hop

Photographer Lisa Leone revisits New York’s early hip-hop scene through intimate images made before the culture became a global force. Opening Friday, October 2 at Leica Store Miami, 212 brings together photographs from the 1980s and early 1990s, with a live DJ set by producer Arthur Baker adding music from the era that shaped the work. Leone began photographing classmates at New York’s High School of Art & Design in 1982, when graffiti writers and dancers including Mare 139, Fabel, Ence and Doze were part of her immediate circle. Using Leica M6 and M4-P cameras, she developed a close, unobtrusive style that favored streets and everyday environments over polished studio settings, capturing artists and collaborators within the city that informed them. Her career later expanded into cinematography and directing, with work spanning music videos, independent film and television. Her photographs have appeared in exhibitions including Contact High at the International Center of Photography and 50 Years of Hip-Hop at Fotografiska, while her 2015 monograph Here I Am further documented her early hip-hop photography. The opening offers a chance to see that formative body of work alongside stories from Leone’s years documenting the culture as it took shape.

Thundercat: Distracted AF Tour

Elastic bass lines, falsetto vocals and a genre-crossing mix of jazz, funk, R&B, hip-hop and psychedelic soul come to the Miami Beach Bandshell with Thundercat. The concert takes place Friday, October 2 as part of his Distracted AF Tour , with support from DJ and producer Kitty Ca$h. Born Stephen Bruner, the Grammy Award-winning bassist and songwriter is known for technically agile playing, offbeat humor and songs including “Them Changes.” His 2020 album It Is What It Is won the Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album, while his collaborative credits span Tame Impala, Flying Lotus, Gorillaz, Silk Sonic, Childish Gambino, H.E.R., Kaytranada and HAIM. The concert is presented by the Rhythm Foundation and III Points.

Nelly at E11EVEN

Early-2000s hip-hop and crossover hits take center stage with a live performance by Nelly at E11EVEN Miami. Taking place Friday, October 2, the appearance brings the St. Louis rapper’s catalog of rap, pop and R&B favorites to the downtown Miami nightlife venue. Nelly emerged nationally with his 2000 debut Country Grammar , an album that helped put St. Louis hip-hop on the mainstream map and later earned Diamond certification from the RIAA. His run of hits includes “Ride Wit Me,” “Hot in Herre” and the Kelly Rowland collaboration “Dilemma.” A three-time Grammy winner, Nelly earned awards for both “Hot in Herre” and “Dilemma” in 2003, followed by another Grammy for “Shake Ya Tailfeather” with Murphy Lee and Diddy. Alongside the live performance, E11EVEN’s nighttime production incorporates cirque-inspired performers, dancers and large-format LED visuals throughout the club. Atmospheric R&B, hip-hop and Caribbean-influenced production set the tone as PARTYNEXTDOOR takes over LIV at Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The Friday, October 2 appearance also features DJ Don Hot and Mr. Anderson. The Canadian singer, songwriter and producer became the first artist signed to Drake’s OVO Sound label in 2013 and has since built a catalog that includes PARTYNEXTDOOR 3 , PARTYMOBILE and PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 . His reach extends beyond his own recordings through songwriting credits on major hits including Rihanna’s “Work” and DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts.” More recently, PARTYNEXTDOOR collaborated with Drake on the 2025 album Some Sexy Songs 4 U and continued releasing new music in 2026. The late-night event is open to ages 21 and older.

His work often explores mood and sonic atmosphere alongside vivid, persona-based delivery, including his widely recognized “Keemy Casanova” character, which draws on retro influences and expressive stage presence. Presented by Reaction Presents and Bowe Inc, the event is open to guests ages 18 and up, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show beginning at 8 p.m.

T.I. at E11EVEN

Southern hip-hop and Atlanta trap take center stage as T.I. marks his birthday with a live performance at E11EVEN Miami. Taking place Saturday, October 3, the appearance brings the rapper’s catalog of early-2000s anthems and crossover hits to the downtown Miami nightlife venue. T.I. helped bring trap music into the mainstream with his 2003 album Trap Muzik , followed by influential releases including King and Paper Trail . His best-known tracks include “What You Know,” “Whatever You Like” and the Rihanna collaboration “Live Your Life.” A three-time Grammy winner with 20 nominations, he has remained a defining figure in Atlanta hip-hop for more than two decades.
